EVIT Superintendent

Meet the EVIT Superintendent

Dr. Chad Wilson, EVIT Superintendent“We change lives.”

Ask anyone who works at East Valley Institute of Technology and they will tell you that has been the mantra on campus since Dr. Chad Wilson became Superintendent of Arizona’s largest Career Technical Education District (CTED). With over 25 years of experience in Arizona’s public schools, Dr. Wilson has seen first-hand what works, what doesn’t, and how important it is to remain student-focused and community-driven in education.

“EVIT changes lives by loving our students and serving our community,” Dr. Wilson said after being appointed superintendent in 2019. “Every day we provide exceptional Career and Technical Education learning opportunities that prepare our students to participate in helping shape a better tomorrow.”

Born and raised in Tucson, Dr. Wilson’s doctoral degree from the University of Arizona is in education policy and administration. He also holds a master’s degree from Northern Arizona University and bachelor’s from UofA. He has worked as a middle school history teacher, principal, associate superintendent and superintendent.

Under his leadership, EVIT has embraced a spirit of staff collaboration and community service that empowers EVIT employees and strengthens EVIT’s partnerships with school districts and other community organizations. Together with the EVIT Governing Board, he has worked to reduce administrative costs and increase support for teachers and students while being mindful that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely.

In recent months, he has worked with EVIT staff to find ways to continue providing valuable learning experiences to students despite campus closures due to COVID-19. As EVIT prepares to open for on-campus, in-person instruction for the 2020-21 school year, Dr. Wilson has continued to lead staff in putting students first.

“We know how important it is to give our young people every chance to succeed, and how important it is to build Arizona’s workforce of essential workers. We are not afraid to try and to try again if something doesn’t work,” he said. “COVID-19 has impacted all of our lives but it doesn’t change the fact that at EVIT, we change lives. It doesn’t change the fact that we love our students – and that love will always defeat fear.”
