March updates from EVIT Superintendent's OfficeStudent Survey
To improve our ability to provide high quality career & technical education, we ask students every year to grade their EVIT experience and whether they would recommend EVIT to a friend. We are pleased to announce that our latest survey of 3,058 students in January shows high satisfaction with the career training they are receiving at EVIT. Over 92 percent said they would grade their experience at EVIT this year with an “A” or a “B,” and over 96% said they are likely or very likely to recommend EVIT to a friend.

Radio awards
Thirteen students in EVIT’s Radio/Audio Production program are finalists for seven national 2018-19 John Drury High School Radio Awards. Winners will be announced May 4. The finalists include Callie Claridge (Mesa High), who was nominated twice – as a finalist in Best News Feature Story for one of her EVIT Student Spotlight productions and for her Public Pulse interview show about lupus awareness and the Arizona Walk to End Lupus. Three EVIT students were nominated for Best Sportscast: Zach Larson (Hamilton), Spencer Cihak (Desert Mountain) and Josh Simon (Highland). EVIT students also were nominated in the Best Promo category – Katie Poloncak (Basha), Enrique Garcia (Adult), Adam Smith (Queen Creek) and Tito Sandoval (Dobson) for their 2018 Halloween promo, and Brayden Castelhano (Desert Ridge), Johan Rodriguez Pagola (Dobson), Maxx Lopez (Heritage Academy), Maddie McCarty (Desert Ridge) and Will Xander (Chaparral) for their haunted house promo production. The John Drury High School Radio Awards are presented by North Central College in Naperville, Ill., and WONC-FM. Good luck, EVIT Radio students!

HOSA walk-a-thon
EVIT students in HOSA Future Health Professionals recently raised $15,848 for the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation through their annual walk-a-thon at the Dr. A. Keith Crandell (Main) Campus. Every year, HOSA students raise money for a health-related cause. For the past few years, the EVIT HOSA chapter has won national awards for raising more money than any other chapter. Great job, EVIT HOSA!

Hire education
Spring is here – and that means the job offers for EVIT students are starting to roll in. To help connect students with industry, EVIT is hosting two career fairs in Mesa – March 29 at the East Campus, 6625 S. Power Road, and April 1 at the Dr. A. Keith Crandell (Main) Campus, 1601 W. Main St. Each fair starts at 8 a.m. with a lunch break from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and ends at 2:30 p.m. Businesses that would like to participate can sign up until March 15 by contacting Bre Marshall at [email protected] or (480) 461-4114.
