Empire joined EVIT's Diesel Advisory Council and works with instructors in
guiding curriculum, help provide training resources, and offer job shadowing and guest lectures. Students completing the program may if desired continue training at Mesa Community College's Think Big program and/or if qualified apply for entry-level employment at Empire Southwest.
The diesel and heavy equipment industry is one of the fastest growing fields in the transportation business today. Diesel mechanics work on a wide variety of diesel engines including those found in buses, trucks, RVs, bulldozers, cranes, farm tractors and trains.
Students develop the skills needed for various positions in the industry through classroom and hands-on learning. Instruction is provided on cooling systems, starting and charging systems, engine lubrication, maintenance & repair & basic mechanical performance.
