EVIT Medical Assistant program puts students on front lines of health careStudents in the East Valley Institute of Technology’s Medical Assistant program have many opportunities to gain practical experience in the health care industry.

For example, Medical Assistant students have been helping with COVID-19 vaccinations at the Adelante Healthcare clinic located at the EVIT Main Campus in Mesa. The students have been screening patients, recording findings and even helping direct traffic.

And Megan Dietz, a first-year Medical Assistant student at the EVIT Power Campus in east Mesa, recently won a two-week job-shadowing trip to the Dominican Republic. Megan’s video entry won first place in a competition sponsored by HOSA Future Health Professionals and Global Pre-Meds, an organization that provides job shadowing opportunities abroad for pre-health students age 16 and older. Megan will get to job-shadow doctors in Dominican Republic hospitals and participate in volunteer activities.
