Paula Corbin, instructor of EVIT’s Early Childhood Education program, has been voted by readers of the East Valley Tribune as the Best High School Teacher in the East Valley.

EVIT instructors swept the high school teacher category in the newspaper’s contest, with health careers instructor Tammy Powers placing second and Graphic/Web Design instructor Eric Perez placing third.

In other results:

  • EVIT placed third in Best Public School/District and earned Honorable Mention as Best Place to Work.
  • Superintendent Dr. Chad Wilson placed third in Best School Leader/Principal.
  • Director of Legal Services Kevin Koelbel earned Honorable Mention in Best Lawyer/Law Firm.

Corbin has taught the Early Childhood Education program for two years. She established a partnership with Mesa Community College in which EVIT students can earn college credit and an MCC certificate while still in high school. She also arranged for scholarships for her students so they can earn their MCC certificate without paying college tuition.

The ballot for the Tribune’s Best of the East Valley contest includes winners and those who placed in the newspaper’s Best of Gilbert, Best of Mesa and Best of Chandler contests earlier this year.
