A new high school will open in July at the East Valley Institute of Technology’s Main Campus in Mesa. Paul Revere Academy, a joint innovation between Heritage Academy charter schools and EVIT, will be open to any high school students in the East Valley with preferential placement for youth in foster care.

"EVIT is pleased to be partnering with Heritage Academy to provide a new high school, Paul Revere Academy, as an option for students who attend EVIT," said Superintendent Dr. Chad Wilson. "Heritage has sent students to EVIT for career and technical education for years and has a proven track record of academic success. Paul Revere Academy will make it possible for students to receive their high school education and EVIT career training at one location. This will be especially beneficial for the foster youth who attend EVIT."

Paul Revere Academy will be housed on the EVIT Main Campus, 1601 W. Main St., Mesa, where EVIT has made it a priority through special initiatives to provide students who are in foster care with the support they need to be successful.

“Our mission at EVIT is to change lives by loving our students and serving our community,” Wilson said. “Foster youth represent a part of our community who need some extra help, some extra love, to be successful. Together with Paul Revere Academy, EVIT will be able to give these students a more solid footing to exit the system and live on their own as independent, working adults.”

While foster youth will have first access to Paul Revere Academy, any high school students in the East Valley can attend the new high school at EVIT, said Paul Revere Principal Stephanie Lund. All Paul Revere students will also be enrolled in EVIT programs.

EVIT offers over 40 career training programs at two central campuses in Mesa and a branch campus at Apache Junction High School. Main Campus programs range from Automotive Technologies and Construction to Cosmetology and Culinary Arts, and much more, including about a dozen health care technician programs.

Lund said the specific focus of Paul Revere Academy will be to ensure students graduate and are ready to enter the workforce or prepared for college. The school will also offer extracurricular sports.

Paul Revere will be able to accommodate 200 to 300 students and will follow the EVIT calendar with the first day of school on July 24. Applications are now being accepted. To start the enrollment process, visit: www.paulrevere.tech .

At the upcoming EVIT Expo, guests will be able to see the building where Paul Revere Academy will be housed, and academy representatives will be on-hand to answer questions and provide more information. EVIT Expo is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Main Campus.
