The housing project designed and constructed by #1Team4Uganda has been selected as the Best Project by judges for the Battle of the Boxes competition to build housing out of a shipping container for medical workers in Uganda.

Members of #1Team4Uganda included ASU Polytechnic, Clearway Energy, DMB Associates Inc, DWL Architects + Planners Inc, Goodmans Interior Structures, Honor Health, McCarthy Building Companies, and faculty and students from EVIT’s Construction, Interior Design, Graphic/Web Design, 3D Animation and Fashion Design programs.

This was a great opportunity for EVIT students to problem-solve, work as a team and collaborate with professionals. Under the guidance of Construction instructor Curtis Ruhl, they worked on the project for several months during the 2019-20 school year. Their work resulted in much-needed housing that will help so many when it is replicated in Uganda.

Superintendent Dr. Chad Wilson said the project provided EVIT students with chance to not only do good work, but to do good.
